    Lesson 1 : Comparisons.
    I Objectives :
    By the end of the lesson, students get more understandings on the use of 3 degrees of comparisons.. They deal with practical exercises to improve their knowledge.
    II. Teaching aids :
    Grammar book (A Practical English Grammar) , exercise book , handouts.
    III. Procedure
    1. Warm –up / revision.
    - Chatting: T. asks some questions
    + What subject do you like best?
    + Is English an easy subject?
    + Is it easier than Math? …
    - Teacher presents the topic of the lesson: “ Today we are going to revise the degrees of comparison”
    2. Presentation.
    - Teacher asks students to retell the forms of comparisons.
    - Teacher reminds them of the forms of comparisons
    A. Comparison of equality
    + Equality:
    ( + ) S1 + be + as + adj. + as + S2
    
    ( - ) S1 + be not + so / as + adj. + as + S2
    
     + Nam is as tall as Minh
    + Nam is not so/ as tall as Minh.
    + Similarity; …. the same + N. ( + as…..)
    + Difference : …. different from…..
    B. Comparative comparison
    * Short adj.
    S1 + be + adj. ...er + than + S2
    
     * Short adv.
    S1 + V/ V-s, es + adv. ...er + than + S2
    
    - T. gives some examples or asks ss. to make their own sentences using comparative of short adj. and adv.
    *Notes : + happy happier ( lucky , hungry , angry , early , .....)
    + heavy heavier
    + hot hotter ( big , fat , thin , wet , .....)
    - Tính từ ở dạng so sánh có thể đứng một mình, không đi với “than”
    +It is warmer this morning.
    + He wants a better job.
    + This box is too small, give me a bigger one.
    * Long adj.

    + English is more difficult than Vietnamese.

    C. Superiority

    + Steel is the most useful of all metals.
    - Superlative is often used with “ in” & “ on”

    3. Practice
    - T. has students do practical exercises individually.
    - T. calls individuals to report their answers.
    - T. asks others to check and correct. Then T. gives the answer key.
