Part A: Time for TV

I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to learn about a new topic , The activities in free time such as watching TV , playing chess….. and know specific information about Lan and Hoa .

- Calls some Ss to hand in the preparation notebook.

- Chatting with Ss about their free time by some questions :
+ What do you usually do in your free time ?
+ Do you like watching TV?
+ Do you like watching news in English?

- Remarks and lead in new lesson .
1. Listen. Then practice with a partner.
* Pre-listening:
- Asks Ss to look at the picture and introduces: This is the picture of Hoa’s family. Look at it and guess what they do in their freetime? Do they watch TV?
- Introduces the situation: Watching TV is one of the most popular activities in freetime. We are going to listen to a dialogue between Lan and Hoa. What do Lan’s / Hoa’s family do in their freetime?
- Explains some new words to Ss .
+ Series ( n ) : phim truyền hình nhiều tập
+ Adventure ( n ) cuôc phiêu lưu
+ Cricket ( n ) : dế mèn
+ To prefer ( v ) = to like ……better …: thích hơn
+ To sound ( v ) : nghe
+ To guess ( v ) = to predict : đoán
- Has Ss read new words in chorus and individually.
* While-listening:
- Asks Ss to guess what Lan and Hoa usually do in the evening.
- Calls on some Ss to give their predictions.
- Asks Ss to look at the books, listen to the tape and checks their predictions.
- Calls on some Ss to give the answers.
- Has Ss practice the dialogue in pairs.
- Calls on 3 or 4 pairs to read the dialogue in front of the class.
- Asks Ss to read the dialogue again then choose the best answers.
- Has Ss exchange the results with the partners.
* Post-listening:
- Calls on some Ss to give the answers.
- Corrects and gives the key :
a. Lan invites Hoa to eat dinner with her family.
b. Lan wants Hoa to watch TV before dinner.
c. Hoa’s family doesn’t have a TV because her aunt and uncle don’t like watching TV.
d. Hoa likes spending time with her aunt and uncle at night.
e. Lan’s family always watches TV in the evening
- Asks Ss to write in the notebooks
