Lesson plan
Unit 1: My friends
Aims:
To help students to greet other people
To help students to introduce people and respond to introduction
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students can:
Greet other people
Introduce people and respond to introduction
Materials: book, radio, worksheet.
Procedures:
Warm up: ( 5’) slap the board: Teacher writes five words on the board: tall, short, slim, thin, fat
“let’s play a game!”
“Ok! I have five words on the board like this” (combine with action)
“When I read a word aloud, you have to slap it at once.”
“For example: if I read “tall”, you will slap on “tall”
“If you slap more quickly, you will get one point.”
CHECK:
“How many words on the board?” (five)
“What will you do if I read a word aloud?” ( slap )
“Ok! Let’s play game!”
After playing game: “who is the winner? Clap your hands for the winner.”
Pre listening: (8’) prediction:
“Today, we continue learning about unit 1: My friends. Part 2: listen”
“Open page 12 and 13.” ( teach some expressions if it is necessary )
“We will listen to four conversations”
“Before you listen, can you guess what these people are talking about?”
“Fill these expression (in the box) in each blank. Remember one expression for one blank”
“Don’t care if it is true or not”
CHECK:
“How many conversations are there?” ( four)
“What will you do?” ( fill expressions in these blank )
“Is it necessary for you to be right or not?” ( no )
While reading: (20’)
“You will listen to four conversations”
“Did you guess correctly?”
“Let’s listen to check”
For the first times, students have to listen to check if their guesses are true or not
Teacher asks students to compare their answers with their partner:
“Now, you will have 2 minutes to compare your answers with your partner”
“Ok! Times up!” then teacher calls some students to answer ( go to the board to write their answers)
“Now you will listen for the second times to check your answers are true or not.”
For the second times, students have to listen to complete the texts and check their answers are true or not. Teacher can stop to give students time for comleting tasks
“Are your answers correct?”
“Which ones are wrong? This one or this one?” ( teacher corrects the mistakes for the students)
Note: In case students can’t complete the texts in the second times, teacher can let students listen for the third times
Post listening: ( role – play ) (10’)
“I would like you to practice the conversations.”
“Now, I’m Hoa, you are Nam” (teacher can check students’ understanding if it is necessary)
“Ok! Let’s change.”
“Work in pair.” ( teacher decide who Nam is, who Hoa is )
“Teacher calls some students to practice” ( two pairs)
“Do the same steps from conversation B to D” ( students have to work in a group of three)
“You are number one, you’re number two, you’re number three, one…,two…,three….”
“Who is number one? Raise your hand!”
“Who is number two? Raise your hand!”
“And who is number three? Raise your hand!”
“Ok! Number one is here, number two is here, number three is here.”
“You’re ….; You’re ….; You’re ….” (teacher can check students’ understanding if it is necessary)
Call some students from each group to practice. ( practice two times)
NOTE: if students are not good at practicing, teacher shouldn’t ask them to practice so much. The teacher can ask them to practice at home.
Homework: (2’)
Learn by heart new words and practice at home
