STEPS FOR PRESENTING A READING TEXT
1. Select an appropriate text.
2. Give a brief introduction to get the students thinking about the topic of the text.
3. State a purpose for reading the text (skim, scan, read for total comprehension).
4. Pre-teach any important vocabulary words which will otherwise prevent the students from understanding the text.
5. Write one or two questions on the board to focus their attention.
6. Present the text and tell the students how much time they have to read. (Do not allow them too much time, especially in skimming and scanning exercises).
7. Have the students answer the questions about the text.
8. Present a follow-up activity. In this, the students can share their own opinions or discuss what else they know about the topic of the text.
